This post is dedicated to John of the Loughborough sorting office, a man who appreciates the value of a good cardboard box. Such people are few and far between.

I collected some boxes from there for packing up my kipple. Now, when I were a lass, you could get free cardboard boxes from the supermarket, but these days all the food is delivered in plastic shrinkwrap and there are no boxes to be had.

“If you need any more, come back in two weeks when I’m back from holiday” John advised me, adding sadly “No-one else saves them.”

  1. With the current state of the housing market, people need all the cardboard boxes they can get – to live in!
