T24AC5CABMDPPPoA* #2: Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown

7 October, 2008

Although I’ve been to Dún Laoghaire** before, and in fact live in this county, I needed a postcard for the Project.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown: done

The town of Dún Laoghaire is all about boats. There’s Ireland’s biggest marina, full of motorboats, yachts and sailing dinghies. There’s the ferry to Holyhead. There are six yacht clubs. There are posters in the windows for international sailing competitions. There are boat-related sculptures. There are boats used as flowerpots. They really like boats.

It’s just down the road from Seapoint, where the UCD Windsurf Club meets. Conditions on Sunday were choppier than ideal for beginners, but Scott persevered.

*The 24 Administrative Counties, 5 Cities And a Bit More of Dublin as it is Problematic Postcard Project Of Awesomeness. It’s a more accurate name, granted, but not as catchy.

**Pronounced dunLEERy, for reasons which remain unclear to me.
