Whew, so much to blog, so little internetz!

After a brain-meltingly boring Data Mining-oriented Monday, Scott and I went to the RDS for a public lecture on the LHC by Prof. Rolf-Dieter Heuer. We were assured that

  • It’s not going to destroy the world. (Though if you are concerned, please check www.hasthelargehadroncolliderdestroyedtheworldyet.com)
  • The thing will be working again sometime next year. It doesn’t help that when a supercooled component breaks down, you have to wait three weeks before it’s warmed up enough to fix.
  • Particle physics is a very complicated kind of simple.
