Keep the day job

10 August, 2010

Clearly, I am not cut out to be a wildlife photographer. But I took some more terrible photos of awesome creatures and I wanted to share…

Hey, it was dark, it moved around a lot...

Seems I was wrong about skunks avoiding humans: they’re not bothered in the slightest. The locals give them a respectful wide berth, hold on to their dogs and warn you if there’s one around the corner. The skunks wave their fantastic stripey tails like they’re giving you the finger, and ignore you completely.

... honest :)

This beaver was building whatever it is that beavers build in Stanley Park, much to the delight of all the people on the path. Myself included.

In conclusion, Vancouver wildlife in order of tail awesomeness:

  1. Skunk
  2. Raccoon
  3. Beaver
  4. Jet black ninja squirrel

  1. The idea of skunks stamping their feet then doing handstands appeals! Do they really?
    Keep taking the photos!

    • YouTube says they do. Then they spray you; that bit doesn’t appeal so much :S
