Go on go on go on…

17 March, 2012

Seamy, South Dublin, sometime in 2009: “I’ve had an idea. I’m going to start… a tea company!”

My then-housemate Seamy says a lot of strange things, so I didn’t expect an actual tea company to result. But over the next few months, tea samples started to turn up. Package designs were created and debated. A name was chosen and defended. Now Mrs Doyle’s Tea not only exists but is selling tea (and chocolate) in the shops. I went to the launch party in Dublin Castle, where tea was being served to the gentle sounds of Vyvienne Long.

Classy.

The event was staffed by an army of ex-housemates. Who knew there were so many of us?

"Ah, Becky, it's so stressful running a tea company..."

The man behind the tea.

It’s great to see his company doing well. Cup of tea, anyone?

  1. Well done to all at Mrs Doyle’s. When we are next in Dublin we shall insist on a cuppa! Meanwhile, I have printed out the delicious looking Apple Cake recipe on Mrs Doyle’s website (see the Blog) and will be making it today. Anyone want a slice?

  2. It would be nice to see a picture of Mrs Doyle – she sounds like a feisty matriarch….
